Who Can Join:
At The Hatchery, we have only 2 requirements of our members:
- a seriousness of intent as a writer and
- a respect of the community
We do not require members to be published and we welcome writers and readers of all varieties.
We know different people have different preferences. With this in mind, we created varied work environments and workstation layouts. From industrial open spaces to bungalow lounge areas and from rooftop patios to secluded library rooms: we have something for every preference.
When members need a break, they can use our fully stocked (Kind bars!), well equipped (panini makers!) communal kitchens or stroll around the neighborhood. Located centrally on Larchmont, we are walking distance to dozens of local cafes, shops and restaurants.
The Hatch offers the following spaces…
The main spaces are about 900 sq ft and have several different workstation options. Phone usage and meetings are not allowed, but real live conversation is encouraged!
Designed for those who like to work in absolute silence. No talking or phone usage is allowed here. Books in the library rooms are free for members to ‘check out.’
Kitchens & Lounge
The Hatch has two communal kitchens, equipped with (get ready) a large fridge, freezer, Kuerig coffee maker, water boiler, microwave, panini maker, waffle maker and toaster. Both come fully stocked with coffee, tea, dishes, and honor system style snacks. Known as “Procrastination Room,” the bungalow kitchen also has a lounge full of lounge chairs, games and magazines to reset your brain.
If you want to write in the sun, we got you covered. We have a gorgeous rooftop patio, a wraparound porch and a ground level patio. All are complete with wifi, and phone usage is allowed so members can come here to work, chill… or grill! Yes, our ground level patio has a top of the line Weber grill.
If you really need to seclude yourself and avoid any distraction whatsoever, our deadline room features cubicle desks that make focussing on making that deadline a breeze. Well, relatively speaking.
The conference room houses a round, handmade walnut table that seats up to 12 people. Most of the time this room is used as a workspace, but we also hold our classes in here, and it can be rented for table reads, meetings, Podcast recordings etc.
I really love everything about the space. Finding a good place to sit down and write has always been a struggle, especially when libraries and coffee shops can be such a crap-shoot. Taking that search for a place out of the equation really cut back on the time I waste before I get down to the actual business of writing. Joining a space like The Hatchery is one of the best ways I could step up my game as a writer.

Only a couple weeks in and loving this space and how it’s saving me from the madness of writing out of the apartment. Lovely communal areas are great for casual work and making new writer friends. Silent room is cozier and perfect for hiding out when you’re deep “in the zone.” The rooftop is the secret goldmine. Comfy furniture for writing, umbrella to keep away the sun. Get a tan *and* write a script? Living the dream.
